BRUSSELS CAPITAL REGION 

1) Suspension of City Tax for first 6 months of 2020 [1]

Brussels has suspended the collection of the City Taks due for the for the first 6 months of 2020.

2) Deferral of payment for property tax [2]

Owners of an immovable property in the Brussels Region will receive an extension of 2 months to pay the property tax. Consequently, there is a payment period of 4 months starting from the date of issuance of the assessment notices (these will be sent during the summer). A repayment plan can be requested, meaning that the taxable person will be able to receive  a period of 6 months to pay the property tax.

3. Extension of the period for correction and payment of inheritance tax

There is an extension of the period for correction and payment of inheritance tax.

There is an extension of maximum 4 months on condition that the initial correction and payment period ends between March 16 and June 30, 2020.

Consequently, no penalty for late filing will be imposed.

An additional extension period of 2 months is granted for assessment notices sent until 30 September 2020 for road taxes and vehicle registration taxes.
